Comparing Schools Tamarindo Costa Rica

Tamarindo, Costa Rica, a serene paradise known for its beautiful beaches, is also home to several highly rated educational institutions. Each of these schools provides quality education with unique curriculums and programs designed to accommodate various needs. Here’s a deep dive into the five notable schools of Tamarindo – Costa Rica International Academy (CRIA), Educarte Bilingual High School, Guanacaste Waldorf School, The Journey School, and La Paz Community School. Comparing Schools Tamarindo Costa Rica,

Costa Rica International Academy (CRIA)

Located in Huacas, CRIA provides education from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade following the US academic calendar (September-June). It’s accredited by the Costa Rican Ministry of Education (MEP). Offering a wide range of core competencies, CRIA promotes a love of learning, equipping students not just academically but also philosophically, encouraging them to shape their future contributions. Educarte Bilingual High School

Educarte, situated between Playa Tamarindo and Playa Avellanas, also follows the US academic calendar. The school offers pre-school through 12th-grade education with a class size capped at 22 students. Like CRIA, it follows the Costa Rican MEP curriculum, with an additional strong English program, project-based learning, French language and literature, and Spanish as a second language. The school believes in nurturing the enthusiasm and love for learning among both teachers and families. For a full BLOG on Educarte please visit here.

Guanacaste Waldorf School

Following the Waldorf philosophy, Guanacaste Waldorf School is the largest Waldorf school in Costa Rica, offering a holistic approach to learning. Located in Huacas, the school provides a bilingual education in English and Spanish from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. The campus promotes healthy eating and encourages outdoor exploration. The school also offers extracurricular activities and instruction in French and German. Please visit here for a full BLOG post on the Pacific Waldorf Schoool.

The Journey School

Also located in Huacas, The Journey School follows the Costa Rican MEP and US Cognia accreditations. The school offers a dual-language setting and focuses on individualized developmental and academic needs of each student. It places a significant emphasis on social and emotional skills. The school guarantees small class sizes, adhering to a strict 10:1 ratio. With a range of electives on offer, the school also provides a rigorous high school program with honors, AP, and college-level classes, and a US diploma through its online accreditation. La Paz Community School

The only school in the Tamarindo area to offer an IB program, La Paz is located in Flamingo/Brasilito. Accredited by the Costa Rican MEP and as an Accredited IB World School, the school provides education from pre-kindergarten to 12th grade. It’s recognized for strong academic programs and focus on the arts. The school follows a Two Way Dual Immersion (TWDI) program that approximately divides the curriculum into a 50/50 English/Spanish structure.

In conclusion, each of these schools in Tamarindo offers a unique approach to education, ensuring a comprehensive development of students. Whether it’s the philosophical emphasis at CRIA, bilingual focus at Educarte, holistic approach at Guanacaste Waldorf, individualized learning at The Journey School, or the dual immersion at La Paz, students are bound to find an enriching environment that caters to their specific needs. All these schools have made the Tamarindo area not just a destination for tourists but also a hub for quality education. La Paz In Depth BLOG post here
