August 30, 2016

Cleanup at Red Rock Crossing on the Village of Oak Creek side – Brought to you by Sedona Village Business Association & Oak Creek Watershed Council

Clean up event with the Sedona Village Business Association Oak Creek Watershed Council. We will be staging at Red Rock Crossing from the Village of Sedona side. Take Verde Valley School Road from the Village of Oak Creek all the way down to Red Rock Crossing where it ends(see map below). We will be staged at that parking lot at 9am on September 5th. The OCWC will provide trash pickers, buckets, vests, gloves, and trash bags. Please bring plenty of water and some sort of comfortable hiking shoe/sandal as we will be hiking outside. Please visit the link below for the Facebook event page and join us this coming Monday Labor day and help us protect this vital resource!

Who is the Sedona Village Business Association well according to their web site SVBA “is an active membership-based organization dedicated to the primary goal of promoting local business growth by providing support, resources, and networking opportunities to all types and sizes of businesses in the Village.” SVBA was established back in 1997.

The Oak Creek Watershed Council according to their web site “Maintaining a standard of excellence for watershed stewardship and preserving the integrity of Oak Creek”. From its headwaters at the top of Oak Creek Canyon to the confluence with the Verde River, Oak Creek is the 50 mile thread that weaves together the fabric of our watershed community, as well as being vital to its economic, recreational and natural future. We invite you to experience the Canyon with a Leave No Trace, Outdoor Ethics in order to continue this legacy for generations to come.

Danielle and I have worked closely with the Sedona Village Business Association for the last year and encourage other Village business’s to join the association. Having organized our own unofficial creek cleanups last summer with local Sedona and Village families we decided to contact the Oak Creek Watershed Council to organize a more official and effective cleanup of our lovely Oak Creek!

So please come and join us for an hour or two cleaning up Oak Creek after the very busy Labor Day weekend.  Many visitors will be in town and unfortunately it is guaranteed that many will not pack out their trash.  So it is up to us to do our part and help keep this amazing resource clean!!

Once again here is the link to the Facebook event page please visit and let us know if you can join us this coming Monday September 5th at the parking lot at the end of Verde Valley Rd. we will be gathering at 9am(see map below use public parking lot right before the end of the dirt road).  Call if you have any questions: Damian Bruno 928-202-0038
